20 Nigerian pilgrims embark on Umrah, fully sponsored by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to Islamic unity

 

In a **grand farewell ceremony** at the Saudi Arabian embassy in Abuja, 20 Nigerian pilgrims have set out for Umrah in Saudi Arabia, fully sponsored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Guests Program.

The initiative, established by **King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud**, provides full sponsorship for Muslims from diverse backgrounds to perform the pilgrimage.

Speaking at the event, **Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ibrahim Al-Ghamdi**, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting **Islamic unity and accessibility to Islam’s holiest sites**.

He praised **King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman** for their dedication to enhancing the pilgrimage experience through massive investments in infrastructure and logistics.

Saudi Arabia has spent over **$100 billion** on expanding and modernizing the **Two Holy Mosques** to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Guests Program is part of this broader effort to ensure that more Muslims worldwide can perform their religious obligations.

Under this initiative, the 20 Nigerian pilgrims will have all **travel, accommodation, and logistics costs covered**, allowing them to focus entirely on their spiritual journey.

The program serves as a **symbol of Saudi Arabia’s dedication to fostering global Muslim unity** and strengthening ties between nations.

The selected pilgrims expressed **deep gratitude** to **King Salman and the Saudi government** for the generous opportunity to perform Umrah without financial burden.
